Rainbow Six Siege Doktor’s Curse Event Is Back

Rainbow Six Siege Doktor’s Curse event is returning for this Halloween season with an updated take on the mode that sees Defenders – who have become Halloween inspired Monsters – trying to survive an onslaught by Attackers who are crashing the party as Exterminators.

The Doktor’s Curse event, which will take place from October 12 – November 2, was first introduced to Rainbow Six Siege in 2019 and returns with a few new features and additions. To help break down everything new, we spoke to product owner Sebastien Levesque about all the changes that fans of this spooky mode can look forward to.

One of the main differences in this year’s event is the addition of Aruni and Melusi as Defenders/Monsters, as their AOE (Area of Effect)/crowd control abilities will help Defenders survive the night. They will need it, as the Doktor has left his castle and isn’t around to help anymore.

“This time around, we’ve integrated Melusi and Aruni into the lineup of Defenders. Their gadgets provide a way to control an area that is well needed for Defenders to survive in the Doktor’s Curse event,” Levesque said. “If you have Aruni, for example, you can put her Surya Gates on non-reinforced walls as it can prevent or do enough damage to anyone who is coming bursting out of the wall.”

Melusi, on the other hand, can use her Banshee Sonic Defense ability to slow down enemies and create an escape route the Defenders can use to live another day.

Doktor’s Curse will once again take place on Theme Park, as Levesque says it is “one of the best layouts to provide good hide-and-seek with its size and dimension.”

In Doktor’s Curse, the Defenders need to survive until the end of the round or kill all of the Attackers. Unfortunately for them, the Attackers are more powerful than they are. Each team will also have special loadouts, however, and none of them include guns.

The Attackers/Exterminators carry a special version of Sledge’s Breaching Hammer and they each have access to one gadget. Jackal has his Eyenox Model III, Lion has his EE-ONE-D, and Sledge has Pulse’s Cardiac Sensor.

The Defenders/Monsters each come equipped with their standard trap gadget with some modified values and a unique secondary ability called Nightstride that will let them move faster while becoming invisible, but they will not have access to melee attacks.

No proper event could ever hope to arrive without accompanying gear, and Doktor’s Curse is no exception. The 48-piece Doktor’s Curse Collection contains the uniforms and headgears of the Doktor’s Curse event Monsters and Exterminators and their matching weapon skins and charms. Items for Jackal, Lion, Aruni, and Melusi join Smoke, Kapkan, Frost, Lesion, and Ela from the last event, and Kaid will even make a special appearance as a vampire with the new Wicked Surgery Bundle.

The Collection is inspired by “Halloween pop-culture” and sees Aruni showing up as a carnivorous plant, Melusi becoming a haunting ghost, Smoke appearing as a hybrid creature, Kapkan showing up as a reaper, Frost taking on the form of a demon, Lesion shambling along as a zombie, Ela haunting the castle as a patchwork revenant, Lion as a head in a jar, Jackal as a lagoon beast, and Sledge as a monster hunter.

The Doktor’s Curse Collection packs can be purchased for 300 R6 credits or 12,500 Renown each. All the collection items, including some from the last event, will be available to purchase in individual bundles for 1,680 R6 Credits each.

As a reminder, Rainbow Six Siege’s Doktor’s Curse event will take place from October 12 – November 2 and will be the perfect way to ring in the spookiest time of the year.
