Does Amazon Price Match Best Buy Deals?

As a policy, Amazon does not offer price matching. That being said, however, if something is on sale at Best Buy, chances are pretty good that the Amazon Prime Day sale will have that same product for the same price.

Taika Waititi Would Direct Thor 5, But Only Under One Condition

Spoiler warning: This article contains minor spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder

When the customary message promising that Thor would return popped up at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder's credits, no one was more surprised than its director.

In an interview with Insider, Taika Waititi said it was a "surprise" when the note appeared. He wasn't the only one, either — star Chris Hemsworth apparently wasn't expecting it either.

"I'm not joking. I saw it in the theater and I was like, 'Oh, shit. Really?' Even Chris was like, 'What?' But, of course he'll be back. He's the best character. I mean, I may be a little biased, but he's the most fun to watch," Waititi said.

It's common for Marvel Cinematic Universe directors to get wide latitude to execute on whatever concept they're handed, but to also be kept relatively in the dark about long-terms plans for the franchise. On the other hand, Waititi has been something of a steward for Thor ever since the very popular Thor Ragnarok.

So would he return for a hypothetical Thor 5?

"Now, I don't know what would be next," Waititi admits. "I would definitely do one, but only if Chris did it. But it would need to be something surprising and unexpected for me to want to do it. Like what would be the new take? The battles and all the fighting is fine, but I would want something that feels unexpected when it comes to the story. Like making just a $5 million movie with no fighting at all, just Thor on a road trip. Like 'Nebraska.'"

Waititi has been contemplative when it comes to Thor's character of late, admitting that the latest iteration isn't necessarily what fans would want. His theoretical roadtrip movie sounds like an extension of that thinking.

Nevertheless, with so many of the original Avengers now out of the picture, Thor is arguably one of the foremost heroes in the MCU now, even with the somewhat mixed reaction to Thor: Love and Thunder. It seems like a given that Thor will return at some point, if only as a cameo in the next big crossover film.

Whatever happens, it's clear that the MCU Phase 4 needs a direction fast, even with Thor: Love and Thunder successfully racking up a $302 million opening weekend.

Amazon Prime Day Deal: Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion Board Game for Only $20

The first real Amazon Prime Day deal on a board game has arrived. Amazon has just dropped the price of the popular Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion board game to only $19.99, down a whopping 60% off from its original $50 MSRP. The lowest price we've seen before today was for $26.66 back in February of this year. This is a legitimate deal.

Gloomhaven: Jaw of the Lion Board Game

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is Celopahir Games' followup release to the hugely successful Gloomhaven board game. It offers a similar gameplay experience to the original and far more daunting Gloomhaven but it's been condensed to make the game more accessible to casual players; that means a simpler rule set, a more developed tutorial, and fewer overall pieces on the board. You're still playing a cooperative campaign that emphasizes tactical combat and RPG-stye character building.

Now if you think "condensed" means that Jaws of the Lion doesn't pack as much value, you'd be wrong. For a mere $49.99 $19.99, you're getting 6+ pounds of cardboard goodness. And although this game is less intimidating than original, it's still a lot more complex than your typical board game, and you'll have a relatively steep learning curve to look forward to. If you're a fan of this board game genre, and you've shied away from Gloomhaven because of its price and involvement, then there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't get in on this deal.

If you need even more convincing, check out our Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion review from earlier in the year. It's totally worth it.

Albuquerque Erecting Statues of Walter White And Jesse Pinkman

In a move to reveal what is likely the first ever municipal statues honoring meth manufacturers, the city of Albuquerque is unveiling statues dedicated to Breaking Bad characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

According to a press release, the statues were originally commissioned from sculptor Trevor Grove in 2019 by series creator Vince Gilligan, who is donating the statues to the city alongside Sony Pictures Television.

"Over the course of fifteen years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us. I wanted to return the favor and give something back," Gilligan said. "These larger-than-life bronzes of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman exist thanks to the generosity of Sony Pictures Television and the artistry of sculptor Trevor Grove, and I love them. It makes me happy to picture them gracing The Duke City for decades to come, attracting busloads of tourists."

More than a decade after the release of the original show, Breaking Bad continues to drive tourism to Albuquerque, not the least because of the show's gorgeous cinematography portraying its stark desert vistas.

The statues will be displayed inside of the Albuquerque Convention Center after being revealed on July 29. The unveiling ceremony is set to include Mayor Keller, Gilligan, executive producer and Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould, Emmy Award-winning actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, and special guests.

"We also appreciate that the statues will be indoors, and therefore protected from pigeons depositing their critiques on our heads," Cranston and Paul joked.

We gave Breaking Bad a 9.8, praising its "depth of character." Its prequel, Better Call Saul, is set to begin airing its final six episodes today, and its iconic meth makers (and statue subjects) Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are confirmed to return for the last few episodes.

    Salem’s Lot Delayed To 2023

Audiences hoping to enter Halloween season with a sizable bite of horror will be disappointed to hear that the upcoming remake of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot has been delayed according to Deadline. The film, originally slated for September 9 of this year, is now releasing April 21, 2023. Deadline also reports that the delays are "due to Covid-related delays in the post production realm."

In recent years, the beginning of September has been home to other remakes of Stephen King films like It in 2017 and It: Chapter Two in 2019. Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait until spring to see Salem’s Lot.

The film, based on the 1975 book by King, follows a writer who returns to his hometown and discovers the residents are being turned into vampires. The remake, like the original book, will be set in the 1970s. It was adapted into a made-for-TV miniseries in the late 1970s, but this marks its first time at the movies on the big screen.

The film is directed by Gary Dauberman who is no stranger to horror. He’s written scripts for films in the Conjuring universe like The Nun and Annabelle Comes Home, which he also directed. Dauberman is also familiar with King’s work as he co-wrote 2017’s It and was the solo writer of its follow up, It: Chapter Two.

At CinemaCon in April, audiences got a peek at Salem’s Lot as well as Wonka and Elvis. Here’s hoping it fares better than the recent remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter, which we called “a bummer of a burn” in our review.
