If you're superstitious, the most unluckiest of calendar days is this Friday, August 13, but if you're a horror fan, then it's a good excuse to watch some absolute classics on Blu-ray with the Friday the 13th Collection Deluxe Edition boxed set.
If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can order the Friday the 13th boxed set now and have it delivered to your house (probably) before Friday. Amazon's telling me I can get it by tomorrow with "Prime FREE One-Day" , and I live in the middle of nowhere. If you live somewhere, you can probably get it tomorrow, too.
Friday the 13th Deluxe Blu-ray Boxed Set
On top of an awesome box with sick Jason art all over it, you get all the Jason movies, including the ones missing from earlier collections for legal rights and whatnot.
Movies on the Friday the 13th Deluxe Blu-ray Boxed Set
- Friday the 13th
- Friday the 13th Part 2
- Friday the 13th Part 3
- Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
- Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
- Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
- Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
- Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (he punches a guy's head off in this one)
- Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
- Jason X
- Freddy vs. Jason
- Friday the 13th (2009)
There are 15 discs in this boxed set, each of them filled with special features and remastering of audio and new HD scans of the sources. It's unbelievably thorough. I'd have been happy with just the movies, but Shout! Factory doesn't roll like that all. They want you to enjoy the movies as much as possible, and I respect that. The "Jason movies" aren't exactly high-cinema, and in fact some of them are just plain bad, but at the same time, they're awesome. Jason Vorhees is easily one of the most iconic horror characters of all time, so this is a treasure trove of slasher pic goodness.
