Disney+ Day is coming up on Friday, but we already got some early release window news from Disney today during its earnings call. Ms. Marvel and Star Wars: Andor both got release windows announced, but sadly, they're a ways off.
During the call CFO Christine McCarthy gave guidance for Disney's fiscal 2022, suggesting that the delays its release slate has seen due to the pandemic are likely to continue into next year. McCarthy says that its first three quarters won't quite meet Disney's ideal expectations of what that schedule should look like.
However, in the fourth quarter — July through September of 2022 — things will pick up. Specifically, we'll see Ms. Marvel, Star Wars: Andor, and Pinocchio during that time.
This is a bit of a delay for Ms. Marvel, it seems, as it was previously set for release in late 2021. That does make plenty of time between now and then to catch up on who Ms. Marvel is and how she fits in with the rest of the cinematic universe.
Andor, meanwhile, has always been planned for sometime in 2022, so the Rogue One prequel appears to be on track and now has a slightly more specific release window. But neither show still has an exact release date.
Ms. Marvel is the upcoming MCU series based on the character of the same name. The character is also slated to appear in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, alongside Brie Laron's Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau.
On the Star Wars side, Andor is a prequel series starring Diego Luna's rebel spy Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Disney's earnings call today was light on other announcement and release news, barring a mention that the company is looking into the metaverse, but we're anticipating much more in the way of reveals this Friday on Disney+ Day.
