The fourth installment of the John Wick action franchise was originally slated to hit theaters on May 21, 2021, but has been pushed back to May 27, 2022. In the months that have passed since its original release date, we have been given tidbits of information about Chapter 4, including details about how the action movie's cast is shaping up.
As such, we have put together a comprehensive rundown of who's appearing in the fourth Wick flick helmed by Chad Stahelski, who is also credited as a producer on the feature. Keanu Reeves as John Wick
Keanu Reeves is returning for more John Wick, having starred as the titular assassin in all three prior installments of the hit action movie series. We don't know what he'll be getting up to in the fourth movie as plot details have been sparse, however, John Wick 3 appeared to set up a sequel in which John and the Bowery King may potentially go to war with the High Table.
Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King
Laurence Fishburne has confirmed his return for the sequel, reprising his role as The Bowery King. He extended praise for Chapter 4's script, saying that the next bullet-riddled adventure will go "much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular" — someone he referred to as "Mr. Watanabe."
Ian McShane as Winston
Deadline reports that Ian McShane will also be back, reprising his role as Winston in the Stahelski-directed sequel. Winston is the Manager of the Continental Hotel who has been both an ally and antagonist to Reeves' character throughout the film series. Stahelski says McShane is "an indispensable collaborator who has helped define the world of John Wick."
Lance Reddick as Charon
John Wick 4 will also see the return of Lance Reddick as Charon, the concierge of the Continental Hotel who facilitates various services for John, including some outside of the hotel's usual offerings such as taking care of his dog. However, Charon betrayed John in the third movie when he teamed up with Winston during the High Table attacks.
Rina Sawayama as Akira
Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama will make her acting debut in John Wick 4 alongside Reeves and the rest of the ever-expanding cast. Her role has been kept largely under wraps, but for her tweeting a link and screenshot of her name as it appears on the movie's IMDB page, on which she is listed as playing a character named "Akira."
Donnie Yen
Martial arts star Donnie Yen has also joined the cast of John Wick 4, playing a friend of John's who apparently has a similar history and shares the same enemies. "We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise," Stahelski told Deadline following the casting announcement. "I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role."
Hiroyuki Sanada
Mortal Kombat frontman Hiroyuki Sanada has also signed up for the next installment of the action-packed franchise. He's currently been cast in an "undisclosed role," though sources tell Collider that he'll be playing the elusive Mr. Watanabe. He is expected to be a key character in the next outing, which is continuing without series creator and screenwriter Derek Kolstad.
Shamier Anderson
Shamier Anderson has also joined John Wick 4's casting roster in a secret role, per Collider. Anderson has been undergoing intense physical training for the sequel as spotted in a video posted by the actor on Instagram in which he is seen taking part in various activities, including weapon training, boxing, and cardio. "A storm is coming," he warns in the caption.
Clancy Brown
According to Deadline, Lionsgate has closed a deal for Clancy Brown to join the world of John Wick, building on an already star-studded cast. His character hasn't been disclosed, though considering his previous roles, some may assume he'll be an antagonist following past screen outings as The Kurgan in Highlander, Capt. Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, and more.
