From the creative minds of Brickleberry and Paradise PD, Farzar is a hilarious new adult animated sci-fi comedy launching on Netflix on Friday, July 15, 2022.
Here's how Netflix describes Farzar: "Egotistical human warrior Renzo liberated the planet Farzar from the evil alien Bazarack, and then established a human settlement under a huge dome, becoming the Czar of Farzar. Years later, Farzar is under attack by the evil aliens once again and Renzo’s well-meaning and not-so-bright son Prince Fichael ventures out with his special crew 'S.H.A.T.' (Special Hostile Assault Team!), made up of a human-soldier-turned-cyborg (Scootie), clashing conjoined twins (Val and Mal), an unhinged scientist (Barry Barris), a highly incapable mutant (Billy) and a mischievous little alien known as a chaos-celot. (Zobo)."
IGN can exclusively reveal a clip from Farzar featuring Kari Wahlgren as Mal and Val in the video below or at the top of the page:
Farzar has an impressive lineup of voice actors, including Lance Reddick (The Wire) as Renzo; Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) as Fichael, Bazarack, and Billy; David Kaye (Eternals) as Barry Barris; Jerry Minor (Brickleberry) as Scootie; Grey DeLisle (The Simpsons) as Queen Flammy; and Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911, Kamp Koral, The Casagrandes) as Zobo.
We spoke to series creators and executive producers Waco O'Guin and Roger Black to learn more about Farzar, and how a dramatic actor like Lance Reddick got involved in the series.
"I watched The Wire in between seasons one and two of Paradise PD and we knew we wanted our FBI character to come in and it would be a dream if we could get [Reddick]," O'Guin told IGN. "He's so serious, to make him say the most ridiculous shit we could think of would be the greatest thing ever. And we didn't think he would do it, but we were like, 'Let's just try.' And then we thought he hated us for a while. It was like, 'He's going to quit. He's going to quit.' But as we got to know him, he's got the silliest side."
Roger Black went on to say that Reddick is also a gamer and does voice-over work for Destiny as the character Commander Zavala.
O'Guin and Black informed us that Farzar has been brewing in their minds even before Paradise PD and they're excited to explore an adult animated show through a sci-fi lens.
"We're both sci-fi fans," Black said. "I love Star Wars and Star Trek, and it was a good playground for us to experiment. And with animation, it just really lends itself to going crazy and you could pretty much draw anything. Whereas shooting live-action sci-fi would be like 5 million an episode or something."
