Season 6 of the British anthology series Black Mirror was announced earlier this year, and now we finally know some of the new faces joining the show’s world of unease and science fiction. According to Variety, the next season of Black Mirror will include Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame and Josh Hartnett, who starred in Penny Dreadful.
Black Mirror Season 6 will also feature Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan. Variety reports this cast will feature in the sixth season’s first three episodes with more actors joining for the season’s remaining episodes. The cast for the rest of the episodes have yet to be revealed
We first learned of the show’s sixth season earlier this year, and story details are still under wraps. We do know, however, that Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which only had three. Black Mirror Season 6 will be “more cinematic in scope, with each installment being treated as an individual film."
In 2020, a year after Season 5’s premiere, Black Mirror creator Charlie Booker said that he wasn’t keen on writing more Black Mirror stories anytime soon. “I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart,” he told Radio Times.
Now, three years have passed since Season 5 premiered on Netflix. Season 5 will be a tough act for the next to follow. While it is shorter than past outings, we gave Season 5 an 8.5/10 in our review and called it “one of series' best, with a shorter, stronger, and more captivating collection of episodes.”
