In partnership with PlayStation, Backbone has announced a new color variant of its critically-acclaimed iOS mobile controller today.
Taking inspiration from the PS5's DualSense controller, the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition uses a two-tone color scheme. In addition to the color scheme, the buttons on this PlayStation-themed Backbone One also changed. Instead of A, B, X, and Y as the primary buttons, this model uses the same button layout as the DualSense: X, O, △, and ◻. The rear of the controller features the PlayStation logo.
Outside of a different color and button swap, the size and dimensions of this model are the same as the Black model. If you are planning to buy this and own an iPhone 13 Pro or 13 Pro Max, make sure you request an adapter for either phone to work with the controller due to their thick camera bumps.
Alongside a new controller color, Backbone confirmed that its official mobile app will include unique integrations for both the PlayStation and PS Remote play apps, including a dedicated row that shares updates from PlayStation, including new games coming to PS4 or PS5.
The company also confirmed that an Android version of its controller is coming this fall. Last month, Chrome Unboxed spotted a store listing on the official website, noting that it is slated to ship sometime this November. You can preorder one right now for the same retail price as the iOS model: $99.99 and includes a 3-month trial for discord Nitro and a 2-month free trial of Stadia Pro.
The Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is available starting today and will retail for $99.99 and is available on Amazon, Best Buy, and Backbone's official website.
