What's the Furthest Place From Here? is easily one of the most promising new comics hitting the stands in late 2021. Not only does it reunite the critically acclaimed creative team behind 2017's 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, it's one of the only comics with its own soundtrack.
IGN can exclusively debut a new trailer for What's the Furthest Place From Here?, featuring the artwork of Tyler Boss and a sampling of the punk rock soundtrack accompanying the series. Check it out in the video player above or embedded below:
This new ongoing series is drawn by Boss and written by Matthew Rosenberg, who's penned a number of high-profile Marvel titles like Astonishing X-Men, The Punisher and Hawkeye: Freefall. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world where gangs of children roam the ruined cities and music is one of the few pleasures that still survives. When a girl named Sid vanishes in search of a better life, her gang members have no choice but to venture into the wastelands to find her.
Alongside the standard print version, each issue will be published as a Deluxe Edition set that comes bundled with a vinyl single. The series' soundtrack is created by Jawbreaker's Blake Schwarzenbach and California’s Joyce Manor. The Deluxe Edition sets will be sold exclusively through comic book shops, so it's probably best to reserve your copies now.
“Matt and I really wanted to get outside of our comfort zone with this book and build it in a new and (hopefully) exciting way," said Boss in Image's press release. "Part of that was being unafraid to try something different and the other part was having a partner in Image who believed in us. Couldn't be happier to have our weird little big book's home be with Image.”
Rosenberg said, "We knew whatever we did after 4 Kids would have to be something ambitious and crazy, but we also needed it to feel like something that only Tyler and I could make. I feel like we really accomplished all of that here.”
What's the Furthest Place From Here? #1 will hit stores on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
